Elly Kwong

Vice President & Head of Information Technology – AIG Credit Card Company

The MBA program with the University of South Australia has not only provided me with the advanced academic training but also has given me an all rounded management perspective for my own personal development. The program was designed with 12 different modules to cater for the need of professionals like me to meet the ever-changing demands of the business world.

Elaine Law

Head of Human Resources - Intertek Testing Services HK Ltd.

I graduated from UniSA almost 9 years ago. Recently I really feel the urge to go for an MBA to further my professional and personal development. As soon as I know my old school offers this online MBA in Hong Kong, without any hesitation I apply for it.

The online learning environment satisfies my study needs. It matches with my work schedule more easily than some traditional programs with “demanding attendance requirement”. In addition to all the online tutorials, discussions and participation, the local study sessions are also helpful. They allow me the opportunity to learn and digest the course materials more quickly and easily, and also allow me to chance to know more friends.

I have enjoyed my undergraduate time at UniSA, I am sure its MBA will be of high quality, and I have full confidence in my old school.

Davina Lee

Credit Control Manager - CLP Power

My fellow classmates come from diverse background with valuable experiences. This is a very important element of a good MBA program, as we can stimulate each other for experience sharing. This will certainly widen my business and career perspective. So far I am glad to have joined this program, and I strongly believe that my effort spent in my study will be very well rewarded.

Daniel Yuen

Senior Project Manager - Kingsway Corp.

The UniSA MBA is a powerful tool in my career development. The program is highly rated and is well-structured with adequate flexibility. Experienced course facilitators share with us their business experience, academic knowledge and practical applications. Although this is only my second term of the course, I have already grasped some strategic view of the current and future business environment.

Elena Yeow

Banker

On the whole, the MBA experience has been an exciting journey of self-discovery. Apart from gaining new knowledge, it has also enhanced my critical thinking, analytical, people and presentation skills via the case studies, individual and group project papers, class discussions and presentations.

Studying and living in Adelaide has allowed me to build life-long friendships and networks with students from around the world.

I would also like to thank the lecturers for their guidance, advice and support during the MBA program as I could not achieve these results without them. Overall, this has been a wonderful experience.

Irene Yu

Priorities Business Banking Manager, Westpac

I have reached a career and personal milestone with the completion of an IGSB MBA. I have developed the core skills required for managing a business, which will truly enhance my future career prospects. The range of courses undertaken have honed my business writing and communication skills and highlighted the importance of team dynamics in the workplace. When I applied the principles and concepts to my own business problems I discovered my ability to think strategically had expanded and was truly stimulated. An IGSB MBA has certainly added value to my marketability.

Dr Zhu Desheng

Senior R&D Manager – Hewlett Pakard IPG Asia Research and Development Hub

The most attractive part of this MBA is that it maintains a very high level of standard while keeping its flexibility.

The 12 MBA modules are very well designed and catered for professionals like me. They helped me greatly in my daily management activities. Finance, Corporate Strategy, Leadership and People Management modules are among the best. I am extremely pleased with this MBA experience.

Devan Nambiar

Information Technology Services Manager - Boeing Constructors Inc.

The MBA at UniSA has been a very rewarding experience for me. Benefits from the course to both the business and me have been great. I have applied many of the theories to practice and the returns have been: paradigm shifts, higher motivation of staff and a more productive environment. I had attended classes and participated in the online delivery and in both cases found the courses to be challenging and rewarding. Contact with both administration and teaching staff was always a positive experience.

Joe Amon

Senior Projects Manager - CSL Limited

With Uni SA offering MBA studies online, I was able to conveniently continue and complete my MBA after I had moved interstate (and even when I was overseas briefly). Offering the MBA online gives great flexibility to continue study no matter where a person's career takes them around the world.

With so many organisations now going global, and so many collaborations performed internationally, teamwork and communications are increasingly being done remotely and electronically. Communicating online for group work projects and assignments is increasingly becoming typical of how many people conduct their professional business, and helps to develop the skills that will become increasingly important in future.

Marco Totaro

Business Planning & Systems Manager - Microsoft Switzerland

I was sure that the dynamic faculty at UniSA and the up-to-date courses would not only increase my knowledge, but also teach me to approach, analyze, and evaluate business situations from different viewpoints. I was convinced that the experience of working with diverse people and the mix of western with eastern management science would add great value to the program.

In the MBA program I improved my ability to focus which is very important in today's dynamic business environment.

Leigh Garrett

Chief Executive Officer, Offenders Aid and Rehabilitation Services, (OARS) SA and The Centre for Res

I studied my MBA part-time over a number of years with IGSB. My goals in doing so were primarily to expand my learning on leadership and management, and find that crucial edge in gaining employment as a CEO. Both of these goals were achieved and much, much more. I recognised my leadership potential when I was about 35 years of age, and I believe that the IGSB MBA was a major influence in gaining my first CEO role in 1994. I really thought that it might not be possible at my age to win such a position. The learning environment at IGSB was very positive and the curriculum design and content changed to keep up with international best practice. Teaching staff were excellent, with a good combination of regular academics and leading external specialists brought in to cover specific areas. High standards of achievement were expected, and good support was provided. The learning environment recognised the pressures of work and family commitments and the camaraderie and support from fellow participants was vital. The networks and contacts made have contributed to sustaining me as a leader. IGSB graduates in leadership positions have been a vital resource for me over the last ten years.

Bev Gaughwin

Director of Physiotherapy - Flinders Medical Centre

As a health professional with 20 years of management experience, I feel the MBA confirmed the best of what I have learned from experience, expanded my thinking, knowledge and business skills, and provided opportunities to explore and develop my full potential. The program developed strong strategic thinking abilities, analytical skills and systems perspectives and provided new frameworks for building the success and sustainability of a business. The MBA expanded my horizons and career opportunities and offered flexibility to specialize in several fields.

Nick Eden

Manager: Technical Support - Monash University

I find the MBA experience adds value to me as a person, as a manager of Information Technology and gives me an array of tools to improve strategic business communications and operations.

The online method of learning means I can schedule my own class time, do the required exercises and access all the academic resources I need from almost anywhere at any time, something not otherwise possible for me. I can also stay in touch with fellow students and tutors via online classes and email.

The MBA course certainly meets my requirements for relevance to the business community and every unit completed provides a stronger base for my future and one step closer to completion of the qualification itself.

Megan Grey

Manager, Office of the Lord Mayor & CEO - Adelaide City Council

The University of South Australia's MBA was a natural choice for me as a busy working professional. The flexibility enabled me to structure the program to suit my work and life styles, while the practical 'real life' nature of the material was easy to apply and of benefit almost immediately.

Kennex Tse

Marketing Manager - Microsoft Corporation

I've been working in sales, marketing and business development, and have been seriously engaged in management positions in recent years. An MBA education will enhance my business know-how, especially when I present ideas to clients, colleagues and partners.

There are many strengths of the UNI MBA program. All of the contact hours are with UNI professors and the HK curriculum is exactly the same as that offered on the UNI campus. UNI is focused very much on teaching, and focused very much on students. What is very exciting is that I can get an accredited MBA in only one year. It's cost effective in terms of time and money.

What I have learned so far in class has impacted my career because it refreshes my mind. It helps me to think. It brings real business cases for me to review. It's also an opportunity to learn from other brilliant classmates who come from different backgrounds during the free discussion in the class. It gives me more choices in my career. When I decided to change jobs, I successfully answered many job interview questions asked by Microsoft employees using information I had learned in the very first course I took in the MBA program!

Emil Chan

First Vice President - BayernLB

I have more than 15 years administrative and managerial experience of IT as well as back office operations and project management in banking. Currently, I am the First Vice President and Regional Project Manager reporting directly to the regional head of back office and responsible for the local part of several major systems consolidation projects and global restructuring processes.

The nature of my job requires me to frequently update my knowledge and catch up with the rapid changing market. I feel that an MBA would further develop my project management and managerial skill and perhaps, widen my exposure from IT and operations in banking to other business areas. The program is challenging, with limited prior warning of the amount of time and effort, and requires total commitment to finish, especially because I am studying it in part time along my very busy day to day work with frequent traveling between Hong Kong and Shanghai. So far, out of the topics I learned, I have a much clearer insight in financial analysis, marketing, organization behavior, operations management as well as strategic and project management. I also learned and built a small network from the mix of students who work in different industries. I do not know what the future will hold, but I believe that the program has, in general, enabled me to get prepared for facing it.

Noel Chong

Marketing Manager - Intel

<>I am currently working in the technology manufacturing industry and employed by Intel.

The semiconductor manufacturing industry is a highly competitive and fast growing industry. Innovation and collaboration are critical to bringing excellent ideas with the other ecosystem partners, and to providing innovative solutions to the customers and end users.

In my long-term plan, I would like to be a business consultant who can help corporations analyze the business environment and challenges in order to help the business grow. Joining the UNI MBA program in Hong Kong while still working full time helps me to build the foundation on the business academic and apply it in the real business world. It is good to join a very interactive class; my classmates are fully committed to the program and want to make the most of it. It is very important to bring this morale to the program, therefore, the program is a success. I would like to enhance my ability to apply all the business knowledge that I have learned from this program, and make the concepts come to life. I expect to gain expertise from the professor and to share my business experience with the other professionals in different industries during this program. I would also like to consider new ideas and ways to tackle challenges in today’s marketplace.

Kelly Fung

Associate Training Manager - Pfizer Corporation Hong Kong

As a training professional I find the following elements to be most critical to success: enthusiasm, patience, building mutual trust and flexibility. The continuous growth and improvements of my colleagues are what I find to be the most rewarding.

This year, I was glad to have a job enrichment opportunity in the Marketing Department. Apart from handling the training programs, I develop different kinds of promotional materials and activities for the anti-infective products.

In coming years, I aim to further enhance my managerial skills in various aspects. The UNI MBA program is definitely my best choice to well-equip myself for the future. I really enjoyed the courses I have completed due to the delightful environment, lovely classmates, and the professional facilitators. The most beneficial part, for me, has been the practical sharing during the classes among facilitators and classmates.

Addy Chan

General Manager – Dalumi Group

"I have been able to apply what I learned in the UNI MBA program in Hong Kong to my job. For example, during the Management Information Systems course, a discussion about how business models are changing through the use of technology made me think about the relationships between our customers, our salespeople, and the company. Thinking about how to enhance these relationships is as important part of my job as a manager.

Two years later, the result of that thinking is a new web-based system that allows our customers a direct view of our inventory. This system gives our salespeople more time to cultivate relationships with new customers and handle the more complicated relationships that a web-based system cannot replace. It was exciting to have that moment in the classroom where the discussion allowed me to see the opportunity. It is even more exciting to see the system being used."

Addy Lam

Assistant Vice President - China Construction Bank (Asia)

For the past 7 years, I have taken up the role of Relationship Manager looking after a portfolio of 100 borrowing customers and around 130 high net worth non-borrowing customers. With a number of in-house & on-the-job trainings, I managed to brush up my knowledge & skill sets that are required. I also built up more confidence of handling the accounts and exploring business opportunities.

In light of fierce competition in the banking industry, as a front-line sales person, I need to take up different sales targets (e.g. lending, investment, insurance and cross-selling of products to other departments). The challenge is that I must have rounded knowledge and skills as well as a quick market sense so that I can grasp every business opportunity before any competitor steps in. Nowadays as customers have a upper hand, I can see another challenge and that is to have good negotiation skills!

I have chosen to work towards a UNI MBA because I hope to learn to be a competent manager through the professional training program. This will help me further scan the business environment for opportunities and threats and strategically plan for the future.

M. T. Chan

General Manager – Rust Oleum Division, TML Ltd.

"After completing my undergraduate studies, I worked nearly 15 years before deciding it was time to gain more knowledge to effectively manage my business. UNI’s intense one-year study schedule is a definite advantage, especially for students working in a fast-paced business world like Hong Kong.

Additional strengths of the UNI MBA program are the quality and quantity of materials covered. From my studies, I was able to develop a framework that helps me anticipate, analyze and respond more effectively before making business decisions, instead of relying on common sense alone. The skills I gained and the topics covered in UNI’s program are definitely useful in my daily work."

Stanley Chau

Sales Manager – Abbott Laboratories Ltd.

"The UNI MBA program is open and energetic with an American teaching style. Professors encourage us to share our experiences and voice our opinions, even when we are wrong. In one case study, Dr. Mitra, who teaches Managing Human Resources to be globally competitive, used 30 minutes to let us talk about how we analyze a situation. He encouraged us to use our own way of thinking and to share with our classmates. However, all of us used the wrong way to analyze! Dr. Mitra finally gave us the right direction and said that mistakes can help us improve. I am very impressed with this way of teaching, which I had never seen in the Hong Kong education system – spending 30 minutes listening to the wrong answers! This greatly widened my horizons. I will never forget what I learned in his class."

Christina Hau

Associate – W. L. Gore & Associates Ltd.

"One of the unique aspects of UNI’s program is that all students have the same class schedule. This helps us develop tight relationships. In fact, many of my classmates have become my good friends!

Sharing and learning about different perspectives from my classmates has helped me think outside of the box. Also, the more than 30 solid contact hours that we have with professors is crucial. This interactive sharing is something you cannot get from a book or distance learning."

Tony Leung

Senior Business Manager – Lei Shing Hong Credit Ltd.

"Through UNI’s program, you can earn an accredited MBA from the U.S.A. within 1.5 years without stopping your career. Just be prepared to work hard and study hard! UNI’s program helped me analyze problems from different angles, strengthened my negotiating power, and enriched my writing skills and abilities. Also, the Business Capstone Experience provided good, practical experience on running a business instead of just writing about it in a graduate dissertation.

I made a lot of good friends in the program who work in different industries, and I can get advice from them in their areas of expertise. Overall, I became a person with more confidence and am prepared for any challenge ahead. I am proud to be a graduate of UNI’s MBA program."

Peter Liew

Manager, Operational Control – Hong Kong & Shanghai Hotels Ltd. Hong Kong

"My first academic training as a management accountant had served me well in the first 15 years of my career in the hospitality industry. Looking forward, I reckoned my remaining working life required not only academic updates, but to experience and understand the learning environment of my future team members.

It took me almost two years to find a program to suit my needs. Syllabus, class timetable, evaluation methods, accreditation, etc. were my criteria. The UNI MBA program fits my quest well. The MBA program provided me with a wider business vocabulary and a more structured thinking process. Further, I find more time to appreciate life and manage my work."

Alex Wong

Sales and Services Manager – Commercial Banking, HSBC

"The business capstone simulation is a wonderful experience for MBA students. It provides a user-friendly platform for learners to practice business strategies without actually taking risks in the real-world business environment. In order to succeed in the capstone, we spent a great deal of time studying the fundamentals of the simulation program. Believing that practice makes perfect, we attempted to practice the rehearsal rounds many times to test out different strategies and analyze their outcomes. Through many trials and errors, we reached an optimal strategy, which gave us an edge over many of them competing teams. The learning process gave me a deeper understanding of the many business theories and management concepts that I gained in the UNI MBA program."

Amy Yeung

Director, Regional Bancassurance – AIG

"Receiving my MBA through UNI’s Hong Kong program was definitely one of the best experiences of my life. I was impressed with every aspect of the program; the quality of teaching, the courses, the 12-month time schedule, manageable class times, and sharing and forming friendships with my classmates.

To keep those relationships going, we recently set up an alumni association in Hong Kong for UNI MBA graduates. Events are held approximately every two months, ranging from karaoke to playing soccer. The main spirit, however, is to promote UNI, the MBA program, and help alumni make connections to help them succeed in the business world."

IADB Graduate 08, Winner of NCC Regional High Achiever

I am working in Accounting and HR field for many years. Currently, I am a senior HR officer responsible for recruitment, employee benefits and preparing HR reports. To upgrade myself to a competitive standard, I was recommended by a friend to enroll this IADB program.

I am so glad that I completed the program within 9 months and received the Regional High Achiever Award. My tips to other working classmates who also want to achieve good results are to attend class as many times as you can and ask instructors whenever you have queries as they always give the right direction. No pain, no gain, and be ready to spare your leisure time for study. Focus on your target and you will get what you deserve ultimately.

The IADB is my first step towards achieving a Bachelor or even a Master degree. I truly find the IADB a quality and useful program.

Poppy Tsang

IADB Graduate 08, Winner of NCC Regional High Achiever and International School Teaching Assistant

When I made my decision about which qualification to study, I looked at where I was and where I wanted to be. I looked for what I have to study to fill the gap in between. I first heard NCC Education by word of mouth, and the best thing I like the IADB program is that its qualification can be carried around the world.

I choose Hopkins as the centre to study at because I like it being down town, easy to get to and with nice classroom environment.

I am glad that I graduated with 5 distinctions and 1 credit. My tips to others are to study every week and get the concepts clear. Review the past papers to get a good understanding of how the exams will be like.

I believe to keep the ambition of maintaining myself being competitive is essential to retain in a good job.

Calvin Heung

Honest Motors Ltd.

After receiving my higher diploma, I have been working in sales, marketing and business development for years. To climb up my career ladder a business degree is very useful. It can consolidate my business experience and knowledge with theories & case studies and broaden my business horizons.

The IADB and UOW programs are valuable in terms of time and money. I completed the IADB program in 1 YEAR, and I am quite happy with the grades I received. What is very exciting is that I will get a prestigious B.Sc (Hons) degree from University of Wales in only one year.

I feel that lifelong learning is necessary. After I complete the Bachelor degree, I will pursue an MBA. In today’s competitive business environment, not moving forward means falling behind everyone else.

Ellie Sit

Project Executive - International Corporate

I have been working in the IT industry for over four years and increasingly, my duties have been shifted from technical to business aspects. I find my associate degree in computing studies can no longer cope with the changing job requirements. After doing research on various part time business programs, I selected the International Advanced Diploma in Business (IADB). I completed the IADB program in 9 months and now I am doing final year with the University of Wales’ BSc (Hon) in Business Administration.

I like the flexibilities offered by the IADB and UOW programs. Class notes, study materials, past paper etc. are readily available to working students. Instructors and supporting staff are helpful. I am so glad that I received 2 distinctions and 2 credits in IADB. I can say that I have developed useful business concepts and analytical skills in my study, which are essential for me to be promoted to managerial grade in the near future.

Samantha Chan

Manager Assistant - Kenneth Social Service Ltd

The IADB and UOW programs offer me an enjoyable learning experience! Since I completed a business diploma in year 2006, I have decided that I need a Bachelor degree. Enrolling the IADB and UOW programs is one of my best decisions and investments.

What I have learned so far has impacted my career and personal life. The courses and assignments make me think not only in business ways but also in analytical manner. The theories, case studies adding to classmate’s diverse business backgrounds have enhanced my business exposures and skills.

The other strength is the program flexibility that allows me to handle study, work and family at the same time. I have just handed in my UOW term assignments and am now planning my business trips and wedding in the following month.

Krishna (K.K.) Kumar

Accountant and Company Secretary

The case studies, assignments, and individual and group presentations are the core strengths of the Hong Kong MBA program. The visiting professors are also a real advantage because they impart their great many experiences in class. It was a real comfort for me to know that the MBA delivered in the U.S. and in Hong Kong is the same.

I can recommend the UNI MBA to anyone who is seriously looking for a broad-based MBA program offered right in Hong Kong.
