Mary Christ named Halverson Professor of Accounting

New Interim Head of the Department of Accounting Mary Christ has also recently been named the Halverson Professor of Accounting.

The Gaylon Halverson Professorship was established in 2003 by a group of UNI alumni to honor the strong tradition of excellence in accounting education initiated under the leadership of Gaylon "Doc" Halverson and is awarded to UNI faculty who continue the tradition of excellence leading the Department of Accounting.

Christ received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin; an M.S. in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin- Madison; and a B.B.A. in Management Science and Management Systems from the University of Iowa. Christ is a C.P.A. and previously worked for Arthur Young and Co. in Milwaukee. In addition to being selected as the Halverson Professor of Accounting, she also is serving as the interim head of the Department of Accounting and the director of the Master of Accounting program.
