UniSA's MBA in Elite Group Winning Five-star Rating for Four Consecutive Year

The University of South Australia is now one of only three Australian institutions to have held a five-star rating for its MBA program for four consecutive years.

The 2012 MBA rankings released by the Graduate Management Association of Australia has nominated eight institutions with a five-star rating. But it is only the University of South Australia along with the University of Queensland and the Melbourne Business School that have held the quality rating long-term.

Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Hoj says the University's consistent five-star rating is a result of a commitment to quality and innovation.

"This is a strong reflection of the University's commitment to quality in all we do, whether that be in delivering a flexible and dynamic MBA, building excellence in our research capacity or providing the best learning experiences for students."

In 2010 UniSA joined with the University College London to deliver a specialist MBA to leaders in the resources industry, this year providing a specialist MBA program to employees of Santos.

"This is a strong endorsement of the quality of the program and the role UniSA is playing in building capacity and skills in Australia.

UniSA Pro Vice Chancellor for the Division of Business, Professor Gerry Griffin said he was delighted that the Division of Business could play an important role in delivering quality management education to support the needs of the Australian economy.

"We are always looking for ways to enhance the program and the educational experience for our MBA students," Pro Griffin said.

"You don't win this rating by standing still and doing the same things well - you have to be committed to providing core quality in the program and then you need to innovate - be aware of what business needs and deliver experiences for students that are meaningful and challenge their business knowledge and skills."

UniSA's five-star MBA is based in the University of South Australia's International Graduate School of Business and the program is offered on campus in Adelaide but also online and is taught in both China and Hong Kong. In addition to the GMAA five-star ranking, the MBA was ranked 6th in Australia by Boss magazine in 2009 and ranked in the world's top 100 MBAs by the Aspen Institute's biennial survey.

UniSA's Division of Business was one of the first in Australia to be accredited by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).
